Job Description:

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Full-Time Virtual School Social Worker to join our team and provide essential mental health and support services to students in a virtual learning environment. This position is based in Flint, MI, or surrounding areas and is fully remote, offering flexibility while making a direct impact on students' well-being and success.

As a virtual school social worker, you will be responsible for supporting students' emotional, social, and behavioral needs, helping to create a safe and supportive virtual learning environment. You will collaborate closely with parents, teachers, and school staff to ensure students receive the support they need to succeed academically and personally.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group counseling to students via virtual platforms to address social, emotional, and behavioral issues
  • Conduct virtual assessments and develop personalized intervention plans to support students mental health and well-being
  • Monitor and track student progress, adjusting interventions as necessary
  • Collaborate with parents, guardians, teachers, and administrators to create support plans and ensure student success
  • Offer crisis intervention and provide guidance on de-escalation techniques for students experiencing emotional distress
  • Provide referrals for additional community resources or services when appropriate
  • Lead virtual classroom presentations and workshops on topics such as coping strategies, conflict resolution, and mental health awareness
  • Support students with special education needs and assist in the development of individualized education plans (IEPs) when applicable
  • Maintain accurate, confidential case records and documentation in compliance with school and legal requirements
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development opportunities, and school-wide initiatives to foster a positive learning environment

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) or related field (required)
  • Current Michigan State licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), or equivalent (required)
  • Previous experience in school-based social work, mental health counseling, or related field (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of child development, crisis intervention, and social-emotional learning strategies
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting while maintaining strong communication with students, families, and school staff
  • Proficient in virtual communication platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, etc.) and the ability to engage students in a virtual environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage a caseload of students
  • Empathy, patience, and a passion for supporting students emotional and mental health
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with all school and legal requirements for record-keeping
