Solar Estimator

We are seeking a skilled Solar Estimator to join our team. This role is responsible for developing accurate and detailed scopes of work and providing comprehensive estimates for photovoltaic and battery storage projects ranging from 1MW to over 50MW. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards, as well as excellent analytical and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop accurate and detailed scopes of work, including labor, materials, subcontractor, and other project costs.
• Create comprehensive and precise estimates for solar and battery storage projects of varying sizes.
• Utilize cost estimation software to generate estimates and maintain detailed project records.
• Manage and prioritize estimating tasks to ensure timely responses and submission of deliverables, meeting customer deadlines.
• Review and assess submitted estimates, incorporating customer feedback to ensure competitive pricing.
• Identify potential project risks and propose mitigation strategies.
• Interface directly with customers throughout the bidding process, providing clarity and guidance.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams to solicit pricing and provide complete bid packages, ensuring ownership of the bidding process.
• Request and evaluate pricing for bonds, sales tax, insurance, prevailing wages, and other project-specific requirements.
• Review historical project data and lessons learned with construction teams to improve pricing model accuracy.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Education:
? Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred; or 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience:
? 4+ years of experience in commercial or industrial construction estimating, preferably within the solar industry.
? Hands-on experience with solar and battery storage projects is highly desirable.
• Licenses/Certifications:
? Journeyman/Journeyworker Electrician License (Required)
• Technical Skills:
? Proficiency in estimating software, such as ProEst.
? Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.
? Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and terminology.
• Soft Skills:
? Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
? Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
? Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
• Other Requirements:
? Familiarity with commercial building codes, electrical codes, and industrial solar projects.
? Ability to travel up to 5%.
