Job Description

This position involves performing and documenting routine tasks related to sample processing and assays using written operating procedures, standard laboratory methods, and basic laboratory techniques. The role requires conducting specific procedures and tests, both within and outside of the laboratory, applying practical skills learned from on-the-job experience. You will also modify techniques to fit special needs, calculate data from routine tests to final results, and evaluate such results for accuracy. Additionally, you will assist with and occasionally perform specialized and non-routine tests and assays, maintaining records of such work, and coordinating with other technicians and scientists.

Responsibilities
  • Provide support to the laboratory department by performing and coordinating a variety of laboratory processes.
  • Receive, register, and prepare samples for general analytical testing through data entry, weighing, and physical homogenization.
  • Prepare and perform routine to more complex analyses per NQAC methods.
  • Read and record results of analyses, ensuring identification numbers match with correct samples.
  • Operate basic laboratory equipment such as balances, pH meters, colorimeters, spectrophotometers, autoclaves, evaporators, etc.
  • Prepare standards and reagents needed for analyses, ensuring their accuracy.
  • Acid wash glassware and specially clean other equipment and areas as required.
  • Function as a primary data generator, record and calculate data, and sign assay sheets.
  • Perform routine lab and department maintenance to keep the area clean and orderly.
  • Interpret customer requests and perform receiving and log-in functions.
  • Conduct preliminary interpretations of data or observations and draft short reports to the supervisor.
  • Carry out assignments in a timely, diligent, and safe manner, performing work in accordance with NQAC SOPs.
  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Provide assurance of quality and support of quality processes for the laboratory/center.
  • Assist with the establishment and maintenance of QA documents, plans, and ICPs.
  • Document QA data and report to lead or management.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained in reliable working order and make repairs or modifications within the technician's capability or request repairs.
  • Identify and resolve process or analytical methodology problems.
  • Assist in write-up, review, and proper documentation for processes or methods as experience allows.
  • Attend internal and external training programs as assigned by management.
  • Receive on-the-job instruction under the direct supervision of other technicians or scientists.
  • Train other associates as experience and job needs dictate.

Work Environment

This role operates in a team environment with a schedule from Tuesday to Saturday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
