Job Description

We are a custom stainless steel equipment manufacturing company serving the food industry. As a machinist, you will set up, edit, and operate machining equipment to ensure products are manufactured to meet customer requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret prints, and the capability to measure and check the quality of parts accurately. You will also design, develop, and document necessary fixtures and tools for production and understand the process flow identified on the job traveler.

Responsibilities
  • Manufacture parts on CNC and manual lathes, mills, and grinding machines.
  • Set up CNC machines with verbal or written instructions under minimal supervision.
  • Utilize common machinist tools to measure and inspect parts (e.g., micrometers, calipers, indicators).
  • Read and fully understand blueprints to determine dimensional and finish tolerances on parts.
  • Complete required paperwork accurately (e.g., work orders, timecards).
  • Meet time and schedule standards for assigned work.
  • Perform non-machining tasks when necessary.
  • Maintain offsets and tooling to achieve high-quality parts and effective tool usage.
  • Manage material inventory and work orders in your area.
  • Adhere to safety procedures and regulations to maintain safe operations.
  • Follow standard work schedules and promptly communicate when time off is required.
  • Perform daily and weekly maintenance and cleaning on equipment.
  • Measure and analyze production parts frequently to ensure quality.
Essential Skills
  • 4 years of practical machining experience.
  • Proficiently operate machines to produce quality parts.
  • Ability to set up and program CNC machines.
  • Knowledge of manual machining and lathes.
  • Proficiency with G-code programming.
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand dimensional and finish tolerances.
  • Experience with changeovers and CNC mills.
  • Ability to use measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and indicators.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Ability to design, develop, and document fixtures and tools for production.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control.
  • Ability to understand and follow process flow.

Shift

Hours: Monday - Friday 6am-2:30pm. Overtime rare, only about 4-5 weeks/year.

Work Environment

Our facility is a clean, smaller shop equipped with modern machinery and equipment. With a team of about 25 total employees, including machinists, management, drafters, engineers, accounting, and a controller, we foster a collaborative and supportive work environment. Many employees have been with us for over 10 years. The standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 6am to 2:30pm, with overtime being rare, occurring only about 4-5 weeks a year.
