Job Description

The Lead Mechanic performs general supervision, advanced level preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all packaging equipment and systems. The role involves conducting line changeovers, mechanical set-up of all equipment in accordance with the packaging schedule, providing lead direction and training to other staff, and performing technical and specialized mechanical set-up duties.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures, and state, federal, and local laws.
  • Conduct required monthly preventative maintenance on all packaging equipment.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repairs of packaging and processing equipment, and mechanical and control systems.
  • Perform scheduled and other maintenance of all packaging equipment and specialized and critical repairs.
  • Perform packaging line set-ups and changeovers as needed.
Essential Skills
  • Experience within BFS (Blow Fill Seal) operations.
  • Experience as a Packaging Mechanic with an understanding of Packaging Technology.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working directly with manufacturing and packaging equipment and systems.
  • Minimum 3 years of mechanical engineering experience in a regulated Food/OTC Pharmaceuticals manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years of experience with BFS operations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with filling machines and aseptic environments.
  • Experience with Rommelag machines (model numbers: 321186, 321165, 460114, 460267, and 461002).
  • Knowledge of GMP, packaging, aseptic processing, machine operating, and machine set-up.

Work Environment

Work in a cleanroom environment with three shifts available. The first shift for a Maintenance Lead runs from 7 am - 3:30 pm, and the second shift for a Maintenance Tech runs from 3:30 pm - 11 pm.
