Payroll Specialist

Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe are in search of a Payroll Specialist to join our team in the non-profit sector, located in Westport, Connecticut. This role provides an opportunity to manage payroll processes in a multi-state system, with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and confidentiality.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the processing and management of bi-weekly payroll for all employees.
• Ensure compliance with state tax regulations and requirements in multi-state payroll processing.
• Verify and reconcile hours worked, liaising with the HR department to resolve any payroll discrepancies.
• Utilize and maintain the integrity of data within the Dayforce system for payroll processes.
• Generate accurate payroll reports for management as required.
• Verify and process benefits-related items such as insurance and retirement contributions.
• Stay current with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and requirements, ensuring the company's adherence.
• Address employee inquiries relating to payroll and resolve any payroll issues.
• Maintain a high standard of confidentiality in all aspects of role.
• Leverage technology and accounting software systems to enhance payroll processes.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s degree
2. Payroll experience is a plus, specifically with bi-weekly and multi-state payroll.
3. Experience in Microsoft Excel and experience using Dayforce, strongly preferred.
4. Strong numerical skills and attention to detail, ensuring the efficient processing of payroll.
5. Excellent communication skills to effectively resolve payroll queries and disputes.
6. The ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and exercise discretion is imperative.
7. Strong team player with the ability to also work independently and under pressure.
