Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Production Maintenance Mechanic with 4+ years of industrial maintenance experience, including breakdowns, repairs, and production line changeovers. The ideal candidate will have experience with PLCs and robotics, as well as the ability to troubleshoot motor control centers and mechanical packaging equipment. This includes presses, filling lines, conveying systems, pneumatics, and hydraulics. The role involves programming VFDs up to 480V, installing photo-eyes, ultrasonic sensors, and safety light curtains, and teaching others to do the same.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair motor control centers and mechanical packaging equipment.
  • Program VFDs up to 480V.
  • Install and teach installation of photo-eyes, ultrasonic sensors, and safety light curtains.
  • Set up and change parameters for continuous ink jet date coders.
  • Understand and utilize HMIs, including their functions and abilities.
  • Read and interpret electrical and wiring schematics.
  • Wire circuits including safety e-stops, continuous, momentary, and timing relays, control heaters, encoders, and other electronic components.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and locate I/Os on PLCs, including brands such as Allen Bradley, Automation Direct, and Siemens.
Essential Skills
  • 4+ years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • Experience with PLCs and robotics.
  • Ability to troubleshoot motor control centers and mechanical packaging equipment.
  • Experience with programming VFDs up to 480V.
  • Knowledge of installing and teaching installation of photo-eyes, ultrasonic sensors, and safety light curtains.
  • Familiarity with setting up continuous ink jet date coders and changing parameters.
  • Proficiency in using HMIs.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and wiring schematics.
  • Skills in wiring circuits with safety components and various electronic parts.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with Allen Bradley, Automation Direct, and Siemens PLCs.
  • Forklift certification.
  • Experience with preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Ability to use personal tools such as metric and standard wrenches, multi-meters, various drivers, and flashlights.

Work Environment

This position is in a manufacturing environment where chemicals are processed into packaging. The workspace can be dusty and loud, with moving vehicles and operational machinery. The facility is heated in the winter but not air-conditioned. Employees are required to wear steel toe shoes and may also need safety glasses, gloves, and masks/respirators. Some overtime may be required on Saturdays, but typically only once or twice a month.
