Soliant Education is seeking a dedicated and experienced Educational Sign Language Interpreter to support a student in an elementary school setting for the 2024-2025 school year. This is a full-time, onsite position in the Oregon, WI area, providing 1:1 support to an elementary student who is Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
Responsibilities:
- Provide sign language interpretation for the student in various classroom settings, including instruction, group activities, and during non-academic events as needed.
- Foster effective munication between the student, teacher, and peers, ensuring full participation in educational and social activities.
- Collaborate with school staff and other support personnel to ensure the students educational and social needs are met.
- Adapt to the classroom environment and adjust interpreting methods based on the students needs and the content being taught.
- Maintain accurate documentation and municate effectively with the school team to track progress and address any concerns.
Requirements:
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher or RID certification.
- Valid Wisconsin DPI license (or be willing to apply for one; can start with a pending license status).
- Previous experience working as an educational interpreter, particularly in K-12 settings, is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and the ability to effectively interpret in an educational environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and parents to ensure the students needs are met.
- Excellent munication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
