Position Overview:
We are seeking a flexible and dynamic Adapted Physical Education (APE) Teacher to provide on-call and as-needed services for children with special needs. This position will involve conducting evaluations, providing consultations, and supporting the physical education needs of students across 2-3 local school buildings in the Toledo area. The ideal candidate should be local to Toledo and possess a strong ability to work independently, with a focus on individualized support for a small group of students (fewer than 10 children). Virtual working opportunities are also available for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct evaluations for students with disabilities to assess their physical education needs.
  • Provide individualized physical education plans based on evaluations, tailoring activities to the unique needs of each child.
  • Deliver adapted physical education services on an as-needed basis, with flexibility in scheduling.
  • Consult with teachers, staff, and parents regarding students' physical education progress and needs.
  • Work with 10 students across 2-3 local school buildings.
  • Collaborate with special education teams to ensure holistic support for students' development.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of evaluations, services provided, and student progress.

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Physical Education with a specialty in adaptive education
  • Nationally certified as an APE with a License issued by the state
  • Experience working with children with disabilities in a school setting preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with educators, families, and support staff.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate flexibility in meeting the needs of students.
  • Experience with virtual/hybrid teaching is preferred but not required.
