The primary responsibility of the Maintenance Professional involves all upkeep and repair duties of the company’s properties, including the maintenance of the interior and exteriors of our homes, identifying the need for repairs, and servicing company equipment. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Maintenance Professional will respond to routine and emergency maintenance requests, not only ensuring compliance to all applicable regulations and requirements, but also performing the highest quality of maintenance and repair work in order to promote safe, comfortable, and attractive homes for our participants and employees.
Job Duties Include:
Representing the Mission, Vision and Values of AMA Support Services through action and presentation
Creating a culture of high professional and ethical standard, where dignity, respect, inclusion, integrity, and compassion are the standard
Responds to routine and emergency maintenance and repair requests in a professional, supportive, and timely manner
Perform basic maintenance and repair tasks including painting, patching, basic plumbing, basic electrical
Performs routine and basic external maintenance tasks which may include lawn care, simple repairs to the exterior of the buildings and surrounding property, snow removal, basic landscaping, etc.
Assesses the need for certified or professional repairs for more advanced or involved issues, identifies potential vendors, contributes knowledge and guidance for estimates, and helps to oversee the work of external vendors
Ensures that the exterior of each property is clean, safe, aesthetically pleasing, and acceptable to neighborhood and/or township standard.
Conduct periodic assessments of the company’s properties to ensure that all meet safety requirements, that appliance and equipment are performing, and that regulatory requirements and standards are met
Provide maintenance and repair guidance to fellow employees, as appropriate, in a supportive and professional manner
Maintain and use company tools and equipment in a careful and purposeful manner so as not to cause undue damage, loss or excessive wear and tear secondary to misuse or negligence.
Practice cost-effective strategies in all aspects of maintenance and repair
Installing and repairing household appliances where possible, and/or managing and overseeing the repair of appliances when an external vendor is required
Adhering to all product safety precautions in the use of tools, equipment, and materials necessary to perform repair and maintenance
Required Education:
High School Diploma (or equivalent) plus 3 years’ related experience
Required Skills and Experience:
Valid Driver’s license
Skilled workmanship and strong technical knowledge
Detail oriented with an aptitude for problem-solving
2 years of prior repair, maintenance and /or handyman experience
Extremely organized
Excellent communication skills
Strong customer service skills
Working Conditions:
Hours and weekly schedule are dictated by current tasks and program needs, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays
Frequent lifting, stretching and other physical exertion
Work will take place in a variety of settings, including an office, in the community and in the homes of the people in service. Must be able to travel to and work in these settings without limitation
Exposure to various medical conditions and communicable diseases may occur
Use of tools, equipment, and products that could be harmful if misused or used without taking the expected precautions
