Materials Specialist

Job Description: The Equipment Material Specialist is responsible for managing and optimizing medical equipment and supplies across the hospital, ensuring that clinical areas are equipped with the necessary items to deliver high-quality patient care. This role involves evaluating PAR levels, overseeing product standardization, managing vendor returns and recalls, and handling product reconciliation to support operational efficiency and fiscal responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Materials Coordinator to assess and evaluate PAR (Periodic Automatic Replenishment) levels for medical equipment and supplies across departments.
- Analyze usage data provided by the Coordinator to adjust PAR levels and align inventory with clinical demand, reducing overstock and avoiding shortages.
- Lead efforts to standardize medical equipment and supplies to streamline inventory and reduce costs.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure new products meet patient care needs and regulatory standards.
- Manage the process of returning defective or excess items to vendors, coordinating with suppliers to resolve any discrepancies and secure appropriate credits.
- Act as the primary liaison with vendors during product recalls, ensuring that affected items are identified, removed from use, and replaced promptly to maintain patient safety.
- Reconcile inventory discrepancies through accurate tracking and reporting, ensuring inventory records align with physical counts.
- Maintain a close relationship with the procurement and materials management teams to facilitate efficient ordering, storage, and distribution of supplies and equipment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Supply Chain, Healthcare Management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in inventory management, materials handling, or supply chain operations in a healthcare setting.
- Experience with vendor management, product recalls, and inventory reconciliation is preferred.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical staff.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $21.06 - $25.15 per hour
