The welder utilizes knowledge of working characteristics of metal and non-metal materials including the knowledge of the equipment to be used in the process. In the sequence of work activities, the welder’s job follows that of the fitters, welding together structural components that have previously been fit and tacked into place.Major Duties & Responsibilities
  • Operate tools and welding equipment including welders, cutters, torches, drills, grinders, and sanders.
  • Set up parts and assemblies for welding, while configuring machines for different steel gauges of any types.
  • Conduct measurements and quality checks, maintaining accurate records.
  • Perform general labor operations such as load/unload parts, grinding, scraping, and nibbling fabrications.
  • Must be able to weld ceramic tape and gouge
Essential Skills & Experience
  • High school diploma, or equivalent.
  • 3 years of experience welding in a shipyard.
  • Proficiency in various welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, stick and flux-cored welding.
  • Ability to interpret welding blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Understanding of welding equipment setup, operation, and maintenance.
Pay: Night Shift: $29.00
Safety & Environmental Factors: All employees are expected to adhere to the company’s safety policies to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. This role involves working under extreme hot or cold conditions and requires the physical ability to stand for the entire shift, use hands for various tasks, ascend stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. Team members must occasionally lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.
