We are offering an opportunity in Springfield, Massachusetts for a Controller.


Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage all accounts, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards and regulatory requirements

• Lead the monthly accounting close process, including the review and recording of journal entries, posting and interfaces of subsystems

• Prepare GAAP financial statements for internal and external use, monitoring compliance with financial covenants and KPIs

• Manage banking relationships, including cash and debt management

• Assure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements

• Continually evaluate, document, and implement improvements to accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls

• Lead and mentor a large financial team

• Coordinate annual financial and pension audits and related tax returns, liaising with external CPA firm on technical issues and staying abreast of all GAAP accounting practices

• Maximize the efficiency of fiscal processes through innovative process development and leveraging systems and software to provide critical financial and operational information

• Support strategic planning and related initiatives through data analysis and forecasting

• Demonstrated proficiency in Month End Close processes.

• Experience in Financial Statement Preparation.

• Familiarity with ADP - Payroll system.

• Background in Non-profit Accounting is preferred.

• Comprehensive understanding of GAAP Accounting principles.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Proven leadership skills with a track record of developing and motivating teams.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask.

• Prior experience in a similar role is preferred.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

• CPA designation is a plus.

• High ethical standards and professionalism, with a commitment to confidentiality.
