Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented pharmacist with strong knowledge of independent pharmacy operations, revenue generation, and audit documentation requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing acquisition costs, negotiating with wholesalers, and tracking inventory. Excellent communication skills are essential for interacting with doctors and staff, as well as the ability to develop therapeutic options that benefit both patients and the pharmacy.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee daily pharmacy operations.
  • Track inventory, including sources and types of purchases.
  • Collaborate with a unit handling purchasing at set prices.
  • Develop therapeutic options with doctors that benefit both patients and the pharmacy.
  • Analyze data trends to identify new revenue opportunities.
  • Recommend therapeutic changes that benefit patients and the pharmacy.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with patients and doctors.
  • Handle insurance prior authorizations.
  • Practice reentering insurance coding and inputting in January.
  • Ensure all tasks are completed, including opening/closing duties, checklists, and price shopping with wholesalers.
  • Fill an average of 100 prescriptions per day.
  • Talk to doctors about getting conversions of NDCs.
Essential Skills
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of independent pharmacy operations and revenue generation.
  • Familiarity with governing bodies and insurance companies targeting high-margin medications.
  • Experience in acquisition, protection, and revenue generation for pharmacy.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Understanding of NDC changes.
  • Ability to manage acquisition costs and negotiate with wholesalers.
  • Basic compounding skills (no sterile compounding).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Must have a NJ Pharmacist License.
  • Prefer 3-5 years of experience as a pharmacist, with at least 1 year in independent pharmacies.
  • Preferred knowledge of BestRX or other documentation experience.
  • Business savvy with the ability to analyze profitability and drive value.
Work Environment

The position is located in a supermarket setting, primarily serving Medicare and Medicaid patients. The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM and Saturdays from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. If working a weekend, you will get a weekday off the following week. You can choose to sit or stand for your shift, with no lifting requirements. The typical day involves working with 2-3 staff members, focusing solely on filling medications. Customer interactions are mostly handled by technicians, and scheduling is managed by the team lead.
