Job Description

General laborers will use an overhead crane to control the lifting, moving and positioning of loads. They will ensure that the load is safely attached and within the lifting limits. They will also keep the crane clean and well-maintained. Crane operators will be responsible for tracking inventory in their designated bay. Customers will drive semis through the plant, and crane operators will load the truck beds with structural steel beams based on order sheets.

Responsibilities
  • Operate an overhead crane to lift, move, and position loads.
  • Ensure loads are safely attached and within lifting limits.
  • Maintain and clean the crane regularly.
  • Track inventory within assigned bay.
  • Load structural steel beams onto truck beds based on order sheets.
Essential Skills
  • Experience operating equipment in a warehouse environment, including forklifts or electric pallet jacks.
  • Prior experience operating an overhead crane is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in material handling and order picking.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • 6+ months of experience operating a forklift (sit-down, stand-up, or high reach).
  • 6+ months of experience operating any sort of heavy equipment.
  • 6+ months of general warehouse experience.
  • Experience with RF scanners and other heavy equipment operation is a plus.

Work Environment

This is a metal distribution center that is not temperature-controlled. The inside temperature will reflect the outside weather due to trucks driving in and out all day. The environment is relatively clean for a metal distribution center. Work shifts are from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM for the 1st shift, and from 4:00 PM to 11:30 PM for the 2nd shift. The team size is typically 2-3 people. The dress code requires steel-toed boots, jeans, and a work shirt. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00
