Job Description

We are seeking an Order Entry Pharmacy Technician to join our Hospice team. The ideal candidate should be comfortable entering prescriptions and navigating computer systems.

Responsibilities
  • Complete accurate data entry of patient information including billing/payer information and prescriptions into the pharmacy application.
  • Access and navigate through other clinical programs as needed for informational purposes.
  • Utilize various software applications including Microsoft Office and the pharmacy dispensing system.
  • Prepare medications for dispensing, including non-sterile compounds, unit dose medications, blister/bubble packaging, multi-dose adherence packaging, and traditional vial dispenses.
  • Stock automated dispensing machines and generate reports to assist with inventory management in the inpatient setting.
  • Generate various reports such as statistical pharmacy volume reports, inventory reports, controlled substance usage reports, MedSelect reports, and other requested reports.
  • Track prescriptions needing signatures for verbally agented Schedule II medications and report to the Pharmacy Manager if a signature cannot be obtained after 7 days.
  • Triage incoming phone calls and route them appropriately.

  • Pharmacy technician certification (CPhT)
  • Prior authorization experience
  • Experience in a hospital or similar setting
Work Environment

The position is located in a closed-door pharmacy environment. Work hours can vary between Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM or 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM, and Saturday/Sunday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
