Job Description

The Digital Finishing Operator is responsible for setting up and operating commercial label inspector machines, including visual quality control. You will operate equipment to slit continuous lengths of printed material into strips of specified width.

Responsibilities

• Receive job assignments from the Press Supervisor or Team Lead, read job specifications, and select correct dies, cores, and rewind method for the job.
• Review job jacket to ensure all finishing, packaging, and shipping specifications are addressed.
• Inspect products to ensure quality integrity and package products.
• Observe the flow of material through the machine to detect irregular cutting and winding.
• Ensure the quality of work, including color, size, die cut, perforations, print, and quantity of packaged items being shipped.
• Assist in cutting, collating, wrapping, and packaging of converting jobs.
• Perform preventative maintenance on machines.
• Remove or replace blades on inspection machines.
• Complete paperwork for each job and package finished goods for shipment to customers.

Essential Skills

• Experience with laser cutters, CNC machines, manual lathes, manual mills, and other machine operations.
• One year of experience in a manufacturing environment, printing, machine operation, or packaging industry.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to read and interpret rulers, scales, and other measurement devices.
• Regularly required to stand and frequently required to walk.
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without mechanical assistance.
• Specific vision abilities required: close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with laser CNC/cutting machine operation is highly relevant.
• Experience with CNC machines and manual machining is beneficial.
• Any machine operation experience requiring a high level of attention to detail is valuable.
• 1+ year of relevant experience is preferred.

Work Environment

The work environment is a large manufacturing facility located in Mukilteo on Harbour Pointe Blvd. Shifts: Second Shift is Monday through Thursday from 1pm to 11:30pm.
