This is a full-time position working 6:45am-5:15pm, Monday - Friday with call rotation required.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES (not limited to):

  1. Demonstrates knowledge of sterile/aseptic technique and recognizes and corrects any breaks in this technique.
  2. Demonstrates knowledge of location, care and use of all equipment/supplies pertaining to Operating Room.
  3. Maintains sterile field at all times.
  4. Plans for tasks and equipment associated with case.
  5. Identifies problems and/or need for improvement and communicates this information to the Perioperative Services Director.
  6. Participates in developing, reviewing, and revising policies and procedures.
  7. Assists with orientation of new employees as directed.
  8. Covers for absentee replacement on short notice.
  9. Initiates CPR as necessary.
  10. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
  11. Ensures no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies. This includes, but is not limited to: security and safety, understanding of MSDS, equipment, infection control, fire, disaster, safe lifting and body mechanics.
  12. Ensures self-compliance with organization policies and procedures, as well as labor agreements.
  13. Ensures the interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in a courteous and efficient manner conducive with the organization’s values.
  14. Conducts self in a professional manner and ensures personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function while representing the organization.
  15. Ensures that additional accountabilities, as may be required, by management be handled in a manner necessary to meet organizational standards.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (not limited to):

  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. Graduate of a basic Operating Room Technician Program required.
  3. One-year general surgical experience preferred if not certified and or a graduate of approved program.
  4. Minimum of one-year experience in General Surgery preferred.
  5. Certified Surgical Technician preferred (CST).
  6. Basic Life Support Heartsaver (HS) level to be completed within three (3) months of hire.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Frequent and at times prolonged standing, walking, lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, crouching, pushing, and pulling.
  2. Manual dexterity.
  3. Heavy physical effort, ability to lift/carry up to 25 lbs. (supplies and equipment).
  4. Good reading eyesight. Able to see clearly 20 feet or more, to judge distance and space relationships, and to see peripherally. Full visual acuity, color perception.
  5. Ability to communicate using verbal and/or written skills for accurate exchange of information with physicians, nurses, health care professionals, patients and/or family, and the public.
