Your work in this area has a profound impact on our short, medium, and long-term success. The following is a list of expectations and disciplines you will be engaged in and perform daily.

Position Overview

The Modular Architect is a subject matter expert, responsible for product design, code compliance, assistance with production problems and system/design improvements. Your efforts will be focused on the design of modular shelters/products for cost effective production, with cutting edge material, construction techniques, methods and technologies. Maintain close daily contact with Structural Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical consultants and support staff as needed to ensure overall product effectiveness and code compliance. This position will use the latest in material science, manufacturing/construction methods, code and regulatory knowledge along with CAD modeling, development of Bills of Material (BOM's) through design and release of innovative products using our NPI process.

This role reports to the VP of Operations.

In the first three months you will:

  • Learn existing production methods, materials and gain understanding of how resources are currently utilized (i.e., personnel, equipment, etc.)
  • Be available to get to know people, build relationships and have fun
  • Work with our new product development team to develop new product designs, new materials and new product development goals
  • Design product using AutoCad Inventor or Revit
  • Learn our NPI (New Product Introduction) process
  • Maintain improvements through sustaining behaviors, operating with discipline and rigor
  • Support departmental goals – for new product development
  • Accurately complete and/or ensure completion of all documentation and data analysis in a timely manner
  • Follow and enforce all safety requirements for this position and all company safety guidelines
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned

After three months you will be able to do everything, you have learned so far and:

  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering and Configuration Management during the New Product Introduction process as a new design moves toward manufacturing readiness
  • Become knowledgeable in continuous improvement methodologies
  • Assist in the development and take ownership of assuring code and regulatory compliance of new product designs
  • Identify innovative materials, designs and methods to improve the time it takes set up and take down products for use at their next site location.

Ongoing you will need to do everything above and:

  • Take the lead in establishing best practices throughout the design and testing process
  • Actively pursue growth and knowledge in your ability to understand continuous improvement methodologies (i.e., Lean, Six Sigma etc.)
  • Help improve, develop and implement best practices for rapid product design

In the future you will have a chance to:

  • Gain experience with process development
  • Lead work on projects and mentor others
  • Potential to become certified in Lean Six Sigma


Requirements:

Education and Experience: Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or equivalent
  • Knowledge and understanding of the latest IBC regulations
  • Minimum Experience: 2+ years-experience in a modular manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of safety, quality, production, and maintenance management
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills
  • Communication – Clearly conveys information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message
  • Contributing to Team Success – Actively participating as a member of a team to move the team toward the completion of goals

  • Ability to accurately proofread engineering drawings and articulate errors

  • Be able to take and pass a pre-employment drug test and be willing to submit to regular randomized drug tests

Bonus points for:

  • AutoCad Inventor or Revit experience
  • Familiarity with ASTM E84, E119 along with ADA code and regulatory requirements
  • 5+ Years of demonstrated experience in a similar capacity
  • High-level of emotional intelligence
  • Knowledge of FDA, GMPs, ISO, OSHA, or other regulatory requirements
  • Licensure and/or certification in areas such as Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Project management, DFMA or similar

Physical Requirements:

  • Seeing: Must be able to see well enough to read blueprints, documents, test gauges and computer screen.
  • Sensory Perception: Reasonable accommodations will be considered and may be made as appropriate to ensure the safety of all personnel as it relates to this role.
  • Hearing: Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with team members and management; and listen to equipment.
  • Standing/Walking: Must be able to move about the production area by stepping over and/or bending under objects; and the ability to stand up to 12 hours around hot machinery.
  • Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: Must be able to stoop or kneel to pick up items from the floor and climb ladders and stairs.
  • Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: Must be able to lift more than 100 pounds with reasonable assistance and able to lift 50 pounds with or without reasonable assistance.
  • Grasping/Feeling: Must be able to grasp and use equipment and tools.

Physical Work Conditions:

  • Safety eyewear and footwear are required on the shop floor
  • Bullpen style office with varying levels of activity and noise throughout the day

Location: Based at headquarters in Everett, Washington

PAY RANGE:

The hiring range for this position is $80,624.00 - $100,780.00 Compensation package offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on market location. The maximum base pay for this role is $120,936.00
