LHH Recruitment Solutions has partnered with a company in Newark, DE, to find a Staff Accountant I. This direct hire position offers growth potential and a hybrid work schedule.
Location: Newark, DE
Pay: $65-75k
Job Description
Primary Duties and Accountabilities:
- Participate in the monthly financial statement close process, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions. Analyze and review financial statements and variances, and consult with finance personnel on accounting issues.
- Prepare, review, and analyze account reconciliations, ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley control requirements.
- Prepare monthly reporting packages, including analysis of current actual results compared to prior periods. Assist in accounting, analysis, and budgeting in coordination with FP&A.
- Interact with auditors, Controller's Group, and Business Units to accomplish goals.
- Assist in special projects and implement changes in FASB/GAAP as needed.
Job Scope:
- Perform day-to-day activities for the monthly financial statement close process.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
- Notify management of any accounting/reporting issues or concerns.
- Collaborate with other departments and Business Units on accounting activities.
- Work impacts financial functions, reporting, and decision-making processes.
- Collaborate with various parties to accomplish goals, resolve issues, and improve processes.
- Work is varied and requires moderate judgment, initiative, and ingenuity.
- May participate in planning processes at the project and departmental level.
- Work under minimal supervision and may require overtime, weekend work, and limited travel.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent.
- 2-4 years of related experience.
- Technical knowledge of Accounting theory, principles, practices, and regulations, including FASB/GAAP and SOX compliance.
- Ability to document technical issues in work papers, disclosures, and memos.
- Successful use of technology to improve process efficiency.
- Effective teambuilding and leadership skills.
- Project management skills.
- Commitment to quality and integrity.
- Professionalism and respect for others.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA with a concentration in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA.
- Public accounting experience.
- Experience in regulatory/utility/FERC/SEC reporting or the energy industry.
