Staff Accountant

We are offering a contract for a Staff Accountant position in the Jessup area of Maryland. The role will involve various accounting functions, including processing and recording payments, reconciling accounts, and performing month-end close tasks. You will be joining a team that operates with great communication, a focus on maintaining accurate records and resolving discrepancies.
Responsibilities:
• Managing Accounts Payable for vendors, including saving invoices on a shared drive and recording payments.
• Reconciliation of Payroll Accrual and Journal Entries, including setting up the monthly entries in Excel and posting in the system.
• Performing month-end close tasks such as Accounts Receivable postings, Daily Bank Reports, bank reconciliations, and entries related to PayPal statements.
• Keeping track of all accounting entries and ensuring they are completed and posted on time.
• Handling discrepancies in invoices and taking up the issue with the respective teams for resolution.
• Maintaining and updating the Accounts Payable invoice log on a weekly basis.
• Performing investigative work on benefits entry to ensure correct account balance.
• Ensuring all supporting documents are saved on the shared drive and the checklist is updated with Journal Entry numbers and posting dates.
• Conducting account analysis and maintenance to ensure accuracy.
• Processing customer credit applications accurately and efficiently.
• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)• Experience in performing Bank Reconciliations
• Familiarity with General Ledger management
• Ability to prepare and manage Journal Entries
• Experience with Month End Close procedures
• Knowledge of NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP software
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Experience in Monthly Bank Reconciliation
• Understanding of Account Balance management
• Ability to perform Account Analysis and Account Coding
• Experience in handling Account Discrepancies and Account Inquiries
• Skills in Account maintenance and Account Reconciliation
• Ability to process Accounting Entries and understand the Accounting cycle
• Proficiency in executing Accounting Functions
• Experience in managing Aging Accounts and preparing Aging Reports
• Skills in Ad Hoc Reporting
• Understanding of Prepaid Account, Prepaid Assets, and Prepaid Expense management
• General Accounting expertise
• Familiarity with the General Journal and General Ledger System
• Experience in managing Month-end Journal Entries and Monthly Journal Entries
• Ability to Post Journal Entries, Prepare Journal Entries, and Record Journal Entries
• Experience in Ledger Journal Entries
• Knowledge of Journal Entry processes and Adjusting Journal Entries
