Job Description

The primary responsibility of the Yard Operator is to maintain inventory material in an efficient and safe manner.

Responsibilities
  • Unload vendor trucks.
  • Receive and verify material from vendor bill of lading and complete rebar receiving sheet.
  • Complete required procedure to report any defective and incorrect materials.
  • Place material in the correct location.
  • Turn in receiving documentation on a timely basis.
  • Coordinate with Fabrication Supervisor regarding material movement needs.
  • Verify, scan, and load fabricated material for transportation.
  • Secure and strap loads for safe transportation.
  • Maintain an organized laydown area.
  • Shag bolts.
  • Communicate material needs to Shop Supervisor.
  • Communicate progress status for shipment to Shop Supervisor.
  • Be certified to operate forklifts and inspect them at the start of each shift.
  • Detect and report questionable conditions to the Shop Supervisor.
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
  • Willingly accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance from Shop Supervisor.

Work Environment

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Standard hours are 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with some overtime as needed.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
