Position Description

Install and support Edge's standard customer premise data & communications network systems for businesses throughout the US.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Install customer network equipment (e.g., switches, firewalls, phones, UPSs, gateways, servers, Cat5e & Cat6 patch cabling, and etc.)
  • Perform onsite troubleshooting and testing (under guidance and supervision of remote engineers) via Navitek, Fluke, NetTool etc.
  • Conduct customer site surveys

Other Responsibilities

  • Communicate effectively with customers, team members, and project management clearly and concisely regarding technical issues
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed & thoroughly inventory equipment
  • Oversee and coordinate with third-party vendors

Experience and Education:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in telecommunications, networking, or related field

Requirements:

Required Experience

  • Based in our Plano, TX office but must have the ability to travel nationwide (including Hawaii) approximately 70% of the time; generally three 3-4 day trips per month, and approximately one 10-day trip per quarter
  • Basic knowledge of data and voice communications networking
  • Understanding of cable patching processes and procedures
  • Ability to perform rack and stack activities
  • Ability to lift up to 75lbs, capable of working aloft
  • Ability to work weekends and overtime when needed
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong written, verbal, and relationship skills
  • Strong work ethic, excellent attendance and flexibility to work overtime
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and organized
  • Ability to work inside and outside environments
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to drive long distances when needed
  • The ability to read and create diagrams, understand as-built documents and architectural drawings, interpret layouts and develop scope of work documents.
  • Have a working knowledge of fiber optic and copper cable installation and termination standards
