Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee and be responsible for the team's preparation of engineering documents.

  • Quality Assurance and Quality Control for Mechanical / HVAC production work - ensure all work is held to standard of care.

  • Review and approve drawings, specifications, and calculations of junior engineers.

  • Manage client relationships on existing projects and promote the company to win new work.

  • Project management for key projects - coordination of all trades (Mechanical, Electrical/Fire Alarm, Plumbing/Sprinkler).

  • Project management monitoring profitability of the projects.

  • Weekly timecards review for mechanical team members.

  • Provide an active role in project development and coordination including manpower allocation.

  • Mentor junior engineers in their technical professional development.

  • Maintain standards and quality of work.

  • Lead specific improvement initiatives to prepare the company for growth.

The Person

The key skills and qualities of a Senior Mechanical Engineer:

  • 10-15 years' prior experience.

  • Proven team leadership - leading teams of 3-5 to successful outcomes.

  • Technical expertise and industry knowledge.

  • Can exercise excellent technical judgment.

  • Knowledge of other trades is significant plus.

  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage client expectations.

Successful Outcomes in the First 3-6 Months

In addition to the experience required and general duties listed in this job description, Our Client is seeking an individual who will help the company grow:

  • You will onboard and successfully utilize all newly hired resources for engineering production work.

  • You'll evaluate and oversee the process by which information is sent, received, reviewed, edited, and approved for all production resources, with special attention to effectively manage all resources.

  • You'll continue to enhance a comprehensive Quality Control process including performance indicators so we can monitor quality on every project.

  • You'll exercise leadership to advance our design standards for all production areas.

  • You'll continue to enhance processes to manage project profitability.
