Summary/objective: The Mental Health Clinician provides services and counseling for youth ages 0-26 and/or their caregivers. Main program areas of emphasis are individual counseling for youth and parents/caregivers, with expertise in early childhood mental health, and school-age youth, with additional focus on removing cultural barriers and addressing stigma to increase participation in mental health services. This position is also for collaboration efforts and initiatives related to health and well-being for all 92 families in the community, including, but not limited to: program design and implementation, direct services, staff consultation, assessment, and ongoing communication with community partners. This position requires strength-based assessment and planning with families in transition, utilizing interventions with individuals that result in increased resiliency and coping skills, reduced stress, and improved mental health.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement strengths-focused, family-centered, culturally competent, mental health services for children, adolescents, adults, and families to promote healthy development, resilience and coping skills.
  • Promote a trauma-informed environment of wellbeing that engages and empowers youth and their caregivers to create and support healthy relationships and reach their goals.
  • Provide therapy for children, adolescents, adults and families served. This may include play therapy, individual psychotherapy, group therapy, and family therapy for youth and their caregivers.
  • Provide individual therapy for youth parents ages 18-26 as a primary focus.
  • Provide individual therapy for parents over the age of 26.
  • Provide crisis intervention for children, adolescents, adults and families.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans utilizing a trauma-informed care focus and culturally sensitive practices. Provide ongoing assessments and reviews of treatment progress on a regular basis.
  • Responsible for all required clinical and administrative documentation.
  • Outreach, recruit, and engage clients in mental health services.
  • Facilitate process of referral, intake, and assessment for Warren Village mental health services.
  • Use a wide variety of engagement techniques to promote accessibility of services.
  • Provide community events and enrichment opportunities for youth and parents with a strong emphasis in skill building, stress management, healthy relationships, secure attachment, self-regulation, and executive functioning skills.
  • Collaborate with Warren Village Kids' Club staff to support greater social-emotional growth for youth.
  • Offer specialized programs, services or classes for Kids' Club participants on a monthly basis.
  • Provide training, consultation, and support to Kids' Club staff for greater youth success and/or behavioral intervention support.
  • Provide monthly psycho-educational Evening Enrichment Classes for parents on a variety of social-emotional topics.
  • Provide consultation to team members on clinical and casework issues as appropriate.
  • Participate in meetings including, but not limited to, team/departmental meetings, all staff meetings, and supervisory sessions.
  • Promote the goals of the organization through tours, presentations and written articles, as needed.
  • Assist with data and outcomes reporting.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree (MA) or equivalent, in Social Work or another mental health discipline.
  • Two years minimum experience working in mental health field with children, youth and families
  • Clinical license from Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (or working toward licensure).

Preferred education eligibility requirements (Certifications, Licenses, etc.), and/or experience:

  • Bilingual (Spanish, French, Arabic or Swahili) highly preferred.
  • Lived experience in homelessness or housing instability, including an alumni of Warren Village.
  • If driving is required, employee must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive Warren Village vehicles.

Work Environment:

The working environment is typically that of an office using a personal computer, adding machine, and other equipment. Schedule is flexible and non-traditional; based around the availability of youth and families served.

Physical Demands:

Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 25 lbs. Primarily a stationary position. The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office/facility to access file cabinets, storage spaces, access units and building spaces by utilizing stairs, office machinery, etc. Constantly operates a computer and other productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
