Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our front office team. The ideal candidate will utilize Medent as EMR for patient records and play a crucial role in managing patient interactions and office operations. You will welcome patients, manage the appointment calendar, handle incoming calls, verify insurance coverage, assist with check-in and check-out procedures, maintain patient records, and support medical staff during examinations and procedures. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a friendly and supportive team.

Responsibilities
  • Utilize Medent as EMR for patient records.
  • Welcome patients as they arrive, ensuring they feel comfortable and informed.
  • Manage the appointment calendar, schedule patient visits, and coordinate with medical staff availability.
  • Handle incoming calls, direct them to the appropriate personnel, and address patient inquiries.
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and collect copayments.
  • Assist patients with check-in and check-out procedures, ensuring all necessary forms are completed.
  • Maintain and update patient records, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Process insurance claims, create invoices, and manage patient billing.
  • Assist with patient examinations, take vital signs, and prepare patients for procedures.
  • Assist with minor surgical procedures, wound care, and administering medications.
  • Update and maintain accurate patient medical histories and records.
  • Provide patients with information on treatments, medications, and post-procedure care.
  • Order and manage medical supplies and equipment.
  • Work with healthcare providers to ensure smooth patient flow and efficient office operations.
Essential Skills
  • Experience with EMR systems, preferably Medent.
  • Previous experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • High volume patient care experience.
  • Front office knowledge and computer savvy.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred, but not required.
  • Certification may be outdated/expired.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Work Environment

You will work Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM. After six months, you will work one evening until 8:00 PM and a shorter shift on another day. There are occasional Saturday and Sunday rotations, 2-3 times per year, known in advance. Primarily, you will support the Morristown office but may work in other locations if needed. You will handle 20-40 patients a day, depending on the provider, at an interval of about one patient every 15 minutes. This role involves floating to different offices for a change of pace, with a large network of 7 offices, all local to NJ, maintaining a small group feel.
