We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanics to conduct regular maintenance, inspection, and assembly of industrial equipment. The role involves assembling mechanical components, overseeing diagnostic tests to determine functionality problems, and actively participating in designing maintenance plans and tasks related to upgrades and replacements. The candidate will also maintain work logs, repair and maintenance records, manage inventory, and order new parts. Additionally, the Maintenance Mechanic will assess equipment and machinery to alert clients on issues or proactive potential issues, and must be knowledgeable about safety policies, standards, and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular maintenance, inspection, and assembly of industrial equipment.
  • Assemble mechanical components and oversee diagnostic tests to determine functionality problems.
  • Design maintenance plans and tasks regarding upgrades and replacements.
  • Maintain work logs, repair, and maintenance records.
  • Manage inventory and order new parts.
  • Assess equipment and machinery to alert clients on issues or proactive potential issues.
  • Be knowledgeable and informed on safety policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Report all incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions to your supervisor immediately.
Essential Skills
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Troubleshooting and diagnosis skills
  • Electrical and mechanical skills
  • Knowledge of generators, compressors, and engine servicing (Diesel, Electrical, Repair, Compressor, Hydraulics, Pneumatics)
  • Preventive maintenance experience
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics
  • Experience with heavy equipment, construction, fabrication, truck, auto, and maintenance repair
  • Proficiency in welding and using hand tools
  • Customer service skills
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience working on generators in an 'on call' field environment preferred
  • Experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and performing electrical and mechanical repairs

Work Environment

The work environment includes typical hours of 70 hours in an 8-day period when crossing state lines or driving. Shop hours are from 7 am to 6 pm, and field technicians are on call 24/7. The maximum overtime expectations are 6 days of 12-hour shifts.

Job Type & Location

This is a 1-year Contract to Hire position based out of Midland, TX, Roosevelt, TX, and Floresville, TX.
