German Instructor

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly qualified German instructor to join our part-time faculty at Columbus State Community College. As an adjunct professor, you will be responsible for teaching assigned courses, maintaining a positive learning environment, and providing quality instruction to students.

About the Job:

The Adjunct position provides instructional support and evaluates student performance in courses assigned by the Department Chair or other leadership members. The incumbent must exhibit strong organizational skills and multitasking abilities while engaging with large groups of people and complex material.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach assigned courses as scheduled, designing curriculum that fosters diversity and inclusive teaching strategies.
• Consider individual differences of students to design and support a range of learning activities.
• Maintain accurate attendance records, determine and submit grades timely, and communicate progress feedback to students.
• Distribute and maintain accurate syllabi, conduct classes punctually, and employ assessment techniques to measure student performance.
• Engage in periodic meetings with the department, Lead Instructor, and Chairperson relative to teaching duties and professional development.

Student Engagement & Advisement:

• Create a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages active and collaborative learning, student effort, academic challenge, student and faculty interaction, and support for learners.
• Encourage a sense of community among students for learning both inside and outside the classroom.

• Help ensure the college meets its responsibilities in identifying areas of opportunity and systemic concerns.
• Create a welcoming, inclusive, equitable, and productive work and learning environment where all students, faculty members, and college employees feel valued.

Requirements:

To be considered for this position, applicants must hold a Master's Degree in a relevant field and have at least 18 graduate-level credits in German.

Compensation Details:

This is a part-time position with a maximum of 12 contact hours per week. Compensation is $55.88 per contact hour, with two hours equaling one contact hour.
