Asphalt Raker

Job Summary:

The Asphalt Raker is a skilled craft position responsible for assisting with the application of asphalt on highways, private roadways, parking lots, and driveways. This hourly-rated position requires a strong understanding of paving procedures and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with the application of asphalt on various surfaces
• Prepare road surfaces for hot asphalt material
• Distribute and rake asphalt material used in construction, repair, and resurfacing
• Smooth and tamp asphalt material to the proper grade and thickness
• Repair utility cuts by removing temporary material and replacing with permanent hot asphalt material

Requirements:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
• One to three years of industry-related experience, with an emphasis on paving
• Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy equipment and materials
• Strong communication and teamwork skills

Work Environment:

The Asphalt Raker will work outdoors in all weather conditions, exposed to high levels of noise and dust associated with construction projects. The position requires regular walking on uneven surfaces and working near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
