About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mammography Technologist to join our team at Hackensack Meridian Health. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will be responsible for performing mammography examinations with precision and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic and screening mammographic examinations on adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Operate mammographic imaging equipment for breast needle localization procedures and stereotactic procedures as trained.
  • Provide immobilization devices, select proper technical factors based on individual patient needs, and operate equipment for specific procedures.
  • Identify patient images with the correct name, MRN number, and ensure that images are correctly marked as to the breast side and that all images have technologist's initials.
  • Assist with quality control procedures and documentation of phantom image, repeat analysis, calibration test, geometry calibration, diagnostic review workstation QC, compression test, visual machine checks, view box calibration test, artifact test, CNR/SNR testing, and reviewing condition as delegated by leadership.
  • Compile statistics for patient follow-ups, track breast localizations, biopsy recommendations, and follow-up on positive biopsy reports.
  • Document procedures regarding quality control and quality assurance for mammography in compliance with ACR, MQSA, NJ State, and FDA.
  • Ensure proper use of the Faxitron system.
  • Document in EMR (EPIC) any pertinent information regarding patients.
  • Identify the needs of the patient population served and modify and deliver care that is specific to those needs.
  • Communicate with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level.
  • Understand and verbalize proper shielding protocol as per institutional policy.
  • Understand and verbalize images wisely.
  • Ensure rooms are stocked and kept in an orderly manner.
  • Ensure proper labeling of specimen images.
  • Track the location of the patient in Epic during the Breast Center visit.
  • Ensure appropriate procedures are begun and ended in a timely manner.
  • Recognize equipment technical errors and initiate corrective action.
  • Perform other duties as directed by supervisory personnel, including training of new students/personnel.
Requirements
  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
  • Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Radiologic Technology.
  • 24 continuing education credits must be obtained every 2 years. 5 continuing education credits must be maintained per year for mammography.
  • Must be able to meet the requirements for the National Registry (ARRT) and pass the examination.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Diagnostic Radiography License.
  • Registered Technologist Radiology & Mammography.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certification.
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
Working Conditions

Lifts a minimum of 15 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 200 lbs., and stands a minimum of length of shift.
