Job Summary

This position will be primarily responsible for providing production floor support and process improvement for the machining of complex, tight tolerance components utilizing CNC controlled lathes, mills, and grinding equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the new product launch team in designing manufacturing plans, including operator work content, machine capability, quality checks, and information flow.
  • Develop and implement department planning for capacity planning and capital forecasting.
  • Determine parts, tools, and gaging needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specification.
  • Evaluate machine builders through site visits, demonstrated capability, and financial factors for purchasing new equipment.
  • Procure and write purchase requisitions for new machining, assembly, and test equipment, and lead machine installation, robotic integration, and runoff.
  • Support equipment after full-time production, including modifications for efficiency, capability, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Area Production Leader to improve departmental financial metrics.
  • Support production and maintenance due to machine downtime through troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Dispose of parts on hold due to rework or scrapping.
  • Support incoming material suppliers with quality issues.
  • Plan and design manufacturing processes to produce cost reductions by analyzing equipment layout, workflow, assembly methods, and workforce utilization.
  • Utilize knowledge of GD&T, metrology, metallurgy, and assembly and test processes to provide feedback to the product development team on manufacturability and create solutions to issues.
  • Assist manufacturing associates by providing training to team leads and operators.
  • Write add-to-stocks to ensure correct spare parts are on hand.
  • Develop and update required documents, such as process sheets, control plans, FMEAs, FPPA, tool sheets, and job instructions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or Industrial Systems Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Knowledge of PLC programming, tooling optimization, project management, lean manufacturing, and CNC machining/grinding.
  • Occasional travel required, up to 5% of the time.
