Compensation

The estimated salary for this position is $73,166 - $106,244 per year, based on a 40-hour workweek and 52 weeks per year, in Chapel Hill, NC. The actual salary may vary depending on experience and qualifications.

About the JobJob Summary

As an MRI technologist at UNC Health Care, you will conduct procedures and tests using MRI equipment to acquire and analyze patient diagnostic data.

  • Patient Identification: Verify patient identification, obtain patient history, assist patients and family members that require extra attention, ensure patient understanding, and ensure patient safety.
  • MRI Technology: Demonstrate knowledge of MRI and cross-sectional human anatomy, operate MRI scanners, administer automatic injections of MRI contrast, use disc drives, gateways, PACS, and laser printers.
  • Contrast: Administer oral contrast to adult and pediatric patients according to protocols, establish intravenous lines, administer IV contrast following safe and proper injection procedures.
  • Image Transfer: Maintain thorough understanding of PACS, transmit images to QC, UNCH's EMR, EPIC, and PACS, verify and segment images at the QC station, access IMPAX service tools to verify image transmission.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Education: Completion of an accredited educational program in Radiological Science or completion within 3 months at time of application.
  • Licensure/Certification: Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiological Sciences or registry eligible, requires advanced certification in MR within one year of employment.
  • Professional Experience: Prior education, training, and experience that provides the ability to perform assigned tasks.
  • KSA: Knowledge of MRI and cross-sectional human anatomy, ability to operate MRI scanners, administer automatic injections of MRI contrast, use disc drives, gateways, PACS, and laser printers.
