LPN Weekend Nurse

This is a weekend LPN position at Blount Memorial Hospital. The schedule is 7am Friday morning to 7pm Monday morning, with 12 hour shifts. As an LPN, you will provide direct nursing care to assigned patients under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician in the patient care area. You will also provide nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the LPN as defined by the Tennessee Board of Nursing.
Job Specifications
Education and/or Experience:
Current licensure to practice as an LPN in the state of Tennessee is required. You must be competent in BLS and/or other specialized life support requirements designated by the work area or complete upon hire. You must also be successful in completing the Pharmacology proficiency exam and complete the Pharmacology course for LPN under the direction of Blount Memorial Hospital Pharmacy faculty. Additionally, you must be competent in IV therapy, validated by examination and clinical competency. Healthcare experience is preferred.
Knowledge:
You must have knowledge of the scope of the LPN license, as well as knowledge of infection control procedures, safety precautions, and techniques involved in administering routine medications and/or treatments to patients. You must also have knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene, and basic health applicable to work in the hospital. Basic computer knowledge is also required.
Skills:
Excellent customer service skills, active listening, and basic computer skills are required. You must be able to communicate clearly with patients, families, visitors, healthcare team, physicians, administrators, leadership, and others. You must also be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships, work collaboratively, and teach patients and families in accordance with the nursing care plan. You must be able to use sensory and cognitive functions to process and prioritize information, treatment, and follow-up. You must also be able to record activities and document interventions, use computer and learn new software programs, and communicate pertinent information using computer and/or paper documentation tools. Finally, you must be able to work and remain focused and organized in a stressful and fast-paced environment, and work flexible hours and days to meet facility needs.
