Job Title: Classification and Compensation Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Classification and Compensation Manager to join our team at the State of Washington. As a Classification and Compensation Manager, you will be responsible for managing the agency's classification and compensation plan, policies, and procedures to ensure appropriate allocations and compensation, consistency, equity, and effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop classification and compensation proposals for new or existing job classes.
  • Develop, update, and implement the agency's classification and compensation policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate salary recommendations for WGS, ITPS, and WMS positions, ensuring internal alignment and equity.
  • Assist in yearly review of WMS and EMS compensation and salary requests.
  • Develop and submit proposals for new and current classification specifications.
Requirements:
  • Four (4) years of classification and compensation, position allocation, salary administration or related experience.
  • One (1) year of experience making complex allocation decisions.
  • Demonstrated experience submitting or supporting submission of classification proposals.
  • Experience analyzing, interpreting, and applying Washington State Civil Service rules, RCWs, federal and state guidelines, organizational policies, and procedures, and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Demonstrated competency at utilizing strong analytical skills in solving problems and implementing solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage a wide variety of stakeholders at all levels to build a business case for implementation of a solution or change.
  • Highly developed and demonstrated interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resource management, business administration, social or behavioral sciences, or closely related field.
  • Specialized compensation training such as IT Classification.
  • Knowledge of WA State and Federal Overtime guidance and regulation.
  • Advanced knowledge of effective principles and practices of effective human resources management and Washington state budget processes and organization.
