About the Job:

The Health Information Specialist II plays a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of patient records. This position requires strong analytical and communication skills to review and analyze medical records, identify deficiencies, and ensure follow-up as necessary. Additionally, the Health Information Specialist II will provide support to the document imaging process, including preparation, scanning, and quality control of scanned documents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect and analyze data elements for birth certificate completion, interacting with parents and abstracting medical records as needed.
  • Review and analyze inpatient and outpatient medical records for completeness, assigning deficiencies and ensuring follow-up where necessary.
  • Provide support to document-imaging tasks, including preparation, scanning, and quality control of scanned documents.

Requirements:
  • High School graduate required; Associate Degree in Health Information Management preferred.
  • Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator or Registered Health Information Technician preferred.
  • One to three years of related experience.
  • Effective communication skills.
