Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per year

The successful candidate will serve as the chief legal advisor to the City Council, City Manager, and other city departments, providing expert advice on complex legal matters. This role involves representing the City in legal proceedings, managing legal documentation, and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.

About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an experienced attorney to utilize their skills in municipal law, leadership, and litigation. The ideal candidate will possess:

• A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
• At least 5 years of legal experience, preferably in municipal law; managerial experience preferred
• Active membership in the Virginia State Bar; ability to practice in federal and state courts
• Strong legal research, communication, and litigation skills
• Ability to handle complex legal matters and render immediate advice
• Proficiency in legal procedures, regulations, and Roberts Rules of Order
• Strong leadership, organizational, and time-management abilities
• Ability to establish effective relationships with public officials and staff
