Sterile Processing Specialist

University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health is seeking a highly skilled Sterile Processing Technician to join our team. As a key member of our Central Sterile Supply Department, you will be responsible for receiving, cleaning, and sterilizing medical equipment and supplies. Your attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment will ensure the highest level of patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Retrieve, clean, and decontaminate instruments, medical equipment, and supplies.
- Examine sterilized supplies for damage and expiration.
- Packages supplies for sterilization.
- Operate and maintain sterilization equipment, including autoclaves and ETO sterilizers.
- Perform daily preventive maintenance on equipment according to manufacturer's guidelines.
- Store instruments, medical equipment, and supplies in a manner that preserves the integrity of the package.
- Prepare case carts accurately and completely within specified time based on ORSOS preference card and knowledge of procedure intended.
- Distribute instruments, medical equipment, and supplies per departmental requisition or inventory maintenance.
- High school diploma, with certification as Central Sterile Technician preferred.
- Two (2) years' experience in a Central Sterile Supply Technician position.
- Ability to effectively convey verbal and written information, follow directions, and respond to emergency situations appropriately.
- Ability to adapt hours of availability to variable and changing needs of the hospital, including all shifts.
- Ability to organize and manage time effectively, setting appropriate priorities.
