Job Summary

UMMA Community Clinic is seeking a skilled Nurse Practitioner to provide primary care medical services to our patients. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nursing and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Elicit and record patient medical history and social determinants of health.
  • Examine patients to determine their general physical condition.
  • Order and accurately interpret laboratory tests, pathology results, and radiologist reports to develop and execute treatment plans.
  • Document gathered information in medical records and analyze reports and findings of tests and examinations.
  • Prescribe treatments and medication using evidence-based medicine.
  • Immunize patients against communicable diseases.
  • Advise patients on diet, hygiene, and disease prevention methods.
  • Provide prenatal and postnatal care to pregnant women and new mothers, if applicable.
  • Refer patients to medical specialists or other practitioners for specialized treatment.
  • Perform minor surgery and procedures based on granted privileges.
  • Develop positive relationships with patients and families to foster the physician-patient relationship.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement Programs, Peer Review, and clinical meetings.
  • Provide preventative health care services in accordance with HEDIS and national evidence-based standards.
  • Manage patient panels and schedules with an average of 2.5 visits per hour.
  • Complete patient charting in a timely manner to support billing levels.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, the incumbent must have:

  • Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in California.
  • ANCC or AANP Nurse Practitioner certification.
  • Active DEA license.
  • Leadership and management skills preferred.
  • Spanish language proficiency preferred.
  • Successful completion of a post-offer physical examination, drug screening, and criminal background check.
  • Recommended vaccinations and preventative testing: Hep B, Influenza, MMR, TDAP, TB, Covid-19 (vaccine and booster).
  • Education and training necessary to obtain NP certification.
  • Education, training, and experience necessary to meet malpractice insurance coverage requirements.
