Job Description

Heil Environmental is seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer, Maintenance to join our team. As a key player in the design, development, and implementation of new processes, you will play a vital role in supporting production requirements and goals at our Fort Payne facility.

This individual will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a desire to work in a hands-on environment supporting the Maintenance, shop floor, and operations management. Experience working within a Quality Management System (QMS) and knowledge of lean manufacturing principles are essential.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, with a strong motivation to implement new technology and robot automation. At least 3 years of experience with MS-Office, JDE, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Catia is required, along with 5 years' experience in a medium to heavy industrial manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in developing the annual capital equipment budget
  • Leading the launch of replacing End-of-Life manufacturing equipment
  • Preparing and recommending specifications and evaluating bids for contractor activities and/or equipment purchases
  • Evaluating proposals for specification compliance and making recommendations for award
  • Reducing MTTR and MTBF, and completing projects on time without slipping dates
  • Working on weekends as needed, and supporting Safety Risk RPN reduction initiatives
  • Actively participating in Production readiness buy-off processes
  • Developing and improving manufacturing processes to ensure timely delivery of quality products
  • Providing Manufacturing Engineering support for the company
  • Assisting in managing document control procedures through the existing QMS
  • Overseeing the justification, planning, and execution of individual capital projects
  • Seeking out, researching, and developing cost analysis and justification for new methods, procedures, equipment, and materials
  • Evaluating production capacity capabilities and recommending enhancements
  • Championing process/product improvement initiatives through Six Sigma process projects
  • Playing an active role in the development of new products using design for manufacture, assembly, and serviceability methodologies
  • Analyzing production processes, work balance, production scheduling, capacity, and cell concepts to optimize crew distribution for efficiency, capacity, and lead-time
  • Identifying manufacturing variability issues and working with Product Engineering, Production, and Maintenance to reduce or eliminate variation in manufacturing processes
  • Implementing lean manufacturing and Kaizen principles and concepts in the manufacturing areas
  • Developing and leading cost reduction projects
