Job Overview

OnPoint Medical Group is seeking a highly skilled Medical Support Professional to join our team.

We are a physician-led network of skilled Primary and Urgent care providers committed to expanding access to quality healthcare in the most effective and affordable manner possible.

The Back Office Medical Support Professional plays a vital role in assisting the provider (Physician, Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner) in examination and treatment of patients by performing the following duties:

  1. Patient Preparation: Welcoming patients and preparing them for healthcare visits by placing patient in exam room, obtaining medical history and verifying patient's information.
  2. Vital Signs Documentation: Completing accurate sets of vital signs and documenting them in the electronic medical record.
  3. Electronic Medical Record Maintenance: Timely and accurately populating all sections of the electronic medical record, including allergies, medications, vaccines, social history and quality tab.
  4. Assisting Providers: Assisting providers during examinations and treatments, performing point of care tests appropriate to skill level, certifications and state regulations.
  5. Supply Management: Maintaining supplies in storage areas and exam rooms.
  6. Cleanliness and Sanitation: Disinfecting, cleaning treatment rooms following patient examinations, maintaining a safe, secure, and healthy work environment.
  7. Communication Skills: Conducting business in a service-oriented manner that is attentive, cooperative, sensitive and respectful with all patients, visitors and colleagues.
  8. Pre-Visit Planning: Preparing for patient visits according to standard operating procedure guidelines.
  9. Maintenance of Logs and Records: Maintaining required logs and checks, such as refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, etc.
  10. Responding to Messages: Addressing voicemails and inbox messages in the electronic medical record for providers, provider staff and self.
  11. Front Office Support: Providing backup support to the front office when needed, including check-in, check-out, appointment scheduling and answering phones.
  12. Vendor Relationship Management: Maintaining professional relationships with vendors supporting the practice.
  13. HIPAA Compliance: Following HIPAA guidelines for internal and external systems.
  14. Effective Communication: Communicating effectively, considering surroundings and audience.
  15. Professional Development: Attending trainings and meetings as required.

  • Accurate maintenance of medical records for patients and providers.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Graduate of an accredited healthcare program, such as Medical Assistant, CNA, LPN, EMT, or equivalent work experience required.
  • Maintain certifications per state guidelines.
  • Nationally recognized Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, preferably with experience using EMR systems.
  • Some MA experience required.
  • Current BLS card.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • 1-3 years of experience in Family or Pediatrics.
  • Athenahealth practice management system.

Working Conditions :

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to walk; sit; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Estimated Salary Range : $45,000 - $58,500 annually, based on a 40-hour workweek, approximately $21.63 - $28.13 hourly wage.
