Caregiver for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team at Birch Family Services. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential setting.
Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional will provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, promoting their independence, dignity, and well-being. This includes assisting with daily living activities, providing emotional support, and facilitating community integration.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, including assistance with daily living activities, personal care, and medication administration.
- Assist individuals with developmental disabilities in developing and maintaining daily routines, including meal planning, household chores, and leisure activities.
- Facilitate community integration by accompanying individuals to community events, appointments, and outings.
- Provide emotional support and advocacy for individuals with developmental disabilities, promoting their independence and dignity.
- Document and maintain accurate records of individual progress, including daily logs, incident reports, and service plans.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized service plans, ensuring the best possible outcomes for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 1 year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, preferably in a residential setting.
- Specialized training in direct care provision preferred.
- Valid NYS Driver's License required.
- Ability and willingness to obtain certification in OPWDD Approved Medication Administration Course (AMAP) and SCIPR Competencies.
