Patient Registration Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Registration Specialist to join our team at Washington University in St. Louis. As a Patient Registration Specialist, you will be responsible for obtaining insurance information, referral forms, and counseling patients on financial assistance over the phone. You will also schedule and register patients over the phone or by email, with no patient contact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain insurance information from patients and counsel alternative ways for financial assistance.
  • Communicate with physicians and clinical staff to assist with scheduling urgent or referred patient scheduling calls/requests.
  • Provide patient scheduling services, including collecting demographics and insurance registration.
  • Explain billing process to patients and answer incoming inquiries from patients and third-party payers.
  • Assist staff with sending out reminder cards and other scheduling duties.
  • Make daily edits and temporary changes to provider scheduling templates based on physician input.

Requirements:

  • Three years of experience in billing systems and third-party claims and/or experience in a medical office setting or related customer service/office experience.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and working knowledge of insurance and financial options.
  • Demonstrated ability with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
