Overview

Fairview Health Services is a reputable healthcare organization seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist (MLS/MT) for its Infectious Diseases Diagnostic Laboratory (IDDL). Located in the Mayo building at M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center-East Bank, this part-time role involves working on a day shift with every third weekend and rotating holidays.

Job Description

The successful candidate will function independently in performing various diagnostic and therapeutic testing tasks. As a key member of the laboratory team, they will act as a resource for problem resolution and interpretation of results. The MLS/MT will correlate data based on clinical knowledge, technical expertise, and other conditions affecting test results.

Key responsibilities include obtaining specimens, prioritizing work, recognizing problems, evaluating testing results for accuracy, and demonstrating understanding of quality assurance programs. Additionally, the candidate will orient and mentor new employees and students, adjusting their approach to meet the needs of diverse populations.

Expected salary range: $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. This estimate is based on national averages for medical laboratory professionals in similar positions and locations.

Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in a related laboratory field, including a laboratory practicum or equivalent routes specified in CLIA '88.
  • Possession of or eligibility to receive appropriate HHS-approved laboratory certification (ASCP or AMT). Certification is required within one year of hire.
