We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Duke Raleigh GI Medical Oncology team.

About the Role

This position offers a unique opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team providing direct patient care services in a dynamic and supportive environment. As a key member of our oncology team, you will be responsible for promoting high standards of patient care throughout the continuum of cancer diagnosis.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Promote and maintain high standards of patient care throughout the continuum of cancer diagnosis.
  • Elicit detailed and accurate patient histories and perform thorough physical examinations.
  • Order appropriate diagnostic imaging and tests to determine medical and post-treatment diagnoses, patient conditions, treatment toxicities.
  • Formulate appropriate treatment plans with critical thinking skills and high-level clinical judgment, including prescribing appropriate medications.
  • Chart patient progress maintaining detailed and accurate health records.
  • Participate in clinical research projects and understand the importance of documentation of toxicities and data collection.
  • Communication among multi-disciplinary teams to support patient care.
  • Collaborating, supporting and building strong relationships with supervising, back-up supervising physicians, APP colleagues, and team members.
  • Participate in education of patients, family members, new staff, students and other learners.
  • See scheduled and unscheduled patients.
  • Attend program required meetings.
  • Maintain up-to-date clinical and professional knowledge via approved CME.
  • Protect patient confidentiality, maintain ethics and abide by North Carolina laws and Duke Health System policies.
Requirements
  • Nurse Practitioners: Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a Master's degree in Nursing.
  • Physician Assistants: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. A Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred.
  • Licensed in the State of North Carolina.
  • BLS required.
  • ACLS preferred.
  • 1+ years of APP experience strongly preferred.
Work Environment

This position is based at Duke Raleigh Cancer Center, 3404 Wake Forest Road, Ste 303, Raleigh, NC. Monday-Friday, day shift 8a-5p, with flexibility to meet clinic needs.

Compensation Package

The estimated annual salary for this role is $120,000 - $180,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
