Job Summary

As a Radiology Technologist at Memorial Health University Medical Center, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and diagnostic imaging services. Your primary responsibility will be to operate computed tomography (CT) scanners to produce accurate and detailed images of the body's internal structures.

Coordinates patient flow and schedules for the CT modality via a team approach.

Checks patients' charts or scripts to ensure the exam ordered by the physician matches the requisition received by the department.

Uses independent professional judgment to assure exams will clinically evaluate the given diagnosis. Refers discrepancies to radiologists or ordering physicians.

Prepares the room, equipment, medication, and secures supplies needed to perform exams and maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.

Adheres to safety standards set forth by the organization in accordance with ACR guidelines (ALARA).

Explains procedures and equipment functions to patients, answers questions, reviews medical histories, and documents information in patient records/PACS systems.

Performs requested CT exams of appropriate regions in accordance with accepted standards of practice and protocols of the organization and reading radiologists. Observes patients during procedures, reports unusual occurrences, and records patients' conditions when necessary.

Lifts, moves, and transports patients via wheelchairs or carts when necessary.

Maintains knowledge on the composition, storage, and administration of contrast media agents according to department protocols under guidance and approval of physicians.

Transfers, maintains basic quality assurance issues, and recalls images from PACS systems.

Performs equipment quality checks and troubleshoots when appropriate. Reports any need for service or repair to appropriate leadership.

Participates in ongoing QA/QC and process improvement programs.

Assists in providing a safe work environment and is dedicated to providing patient satisfaction.

Maintains continuing education credits in compliance with licensing agencies.

Adheres to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures, including those regarding infection control, hand hygiene, attendance, and appearance.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school for radiologic technologists, required.

ARRT, required.

IEMA, required.

CT certification, preferred.

BLS CPR certification, required.

Working Conditions

Potential exposure to infectious diseases.

Requires ability to lift over 50 pounds occasionally.

Physical demands include repetitive motions of the hands, walking, standing, and reaching above the head.

Physically able to perform duties as stated above.
