Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician II to join our team at Kaiser Permanente in Sterling, Virginia. As a Pharmacy Technician II, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our pharmacy operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greets patients and healthcare personnel in a caring and helpful manner, initiating service transactions using proper forms and processes.
  • Inputs patient and prescription information into the computer system to produce labels and assist in the prescription filling process.
  • Matches prescriptions with labels, selects the proper drug and quantity, fills containers, applies labels, and presents completed products to pharmacists for checking.
  • Assists with and/or provides medication, OTC products, or supplies to patients in a helpful and caring manner, referring all consultation functions to pharmacists.
  • Calculates prices for prescriptions or orders, sells non-prescription drugs, collects cash, checks, or credit card payments, and verifies information on all checks.
  • Performs product verification under the general supervision of pharmacists as part of Tech Check-Tech regulations.
  • Balances monies, checks, and credit card charge documents daily against cash register receipts, reconciles any discrepancies, and prepares bank deposits.
  • Gathers and computes data and information for various needs, including health plan, non-plan, special, and routine reports, studies, and statistics.
  • Maintains accurate OTC charge schedules and price lists, adjusts changes, and orders routine bank supplies for the cashiering area.
Requirements
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician required.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Pharmacy Technician License (Virginia) within 6 months of hire.
  • Pharmacy Technician License (Maryland) within 6 months of hire.
  • Pharmacy Technician License (District of Columbia) within 6 months of hire.
  • Pharmacy Technician Certificate.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Successful completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program or US military program.
  • One (1) year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician preferred.
