Job Summary

Geisinger Health System is seeking a highly skilled Echocardiography Technologist to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our echocardiography laboratory, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care and utilizing state-of-the-art technology to identify cardiac pathology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and assist licensed practitioners in various cardiac imaging procedures, ensuring accurate and efficient completion of exams.
  • Prepare, administer, and document activities related to ultrasound enhancing agents, adhering to federal and state regulations.
  • Meet the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range in their assigned department.
  • Ensure correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
  • Utilize appropriate imaging protocol and optimize technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).
  • Evaluate images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verify archival storage and/or transfer of data, post-processing of data if applicable.
  • Collaborate with licensed practitioners in the performance of sonographic interventional procedures.
  • Ensure equipment parameters for diagnostic and interventional procedures are of optimal technical and administrative quality as requested by a licensed practitioner.
Requirements
  • Graduate from a Specialty Training Program.
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) as a sonographer or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) certification within 6 months.
  • Adult Echocardiography: ARDMS (AE) or CCI credential.
