Telecommunications Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Telecommunications Specialist to join our team at the City of Kings Mountain. As a Telecommunications Specialist, you will be responsible for dispatching emergency calls, assisting the public, and maintaining contact with public safety units.

Key Responsibilities:

• Receives and dispatches emergency and non-emergency calls
• Provides customer service to the public
• Maintains contact with public safety units
• Operates emergency equipment and computer-aided dispatch systems
• Performs data entry and maintains records

Requirements:

• Graduation from high school and some related communications or dispatching experience
• Ability to obtain certification as a DCI Operator within three months of appointment
• Considerable knowledge of the operation of a police communications system and related Federal Communications Commission regulations
• Working knowledge of office technology and the application of technology to dispatch and records

Working Conditions:

This position requires frequent public contact and the ability to remain calm under stressful conditions. The work environment is fast-paced and requires the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
