Ophthalmic Cornea Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at UCHealth UCHlth Eye Center Aurora, US:CO:Aurora. This is a full-time position that requires advanced proficiency in performing ophthalmic core competencies and assisting in minor procedures.

Salary: $24.11 - $36.17 per hour

Responsibilities:

• Assist Cornea service line providers in the care of patients in clinic and procedural areas.
• Schedule Cornea patients for clinic appointments, procedures, and post-operative appointments.
• Perform documentation, patient education, and enter charges.
• Orient, train, and educate students, staff, and residents.
• Staff resource and mentor.
• Assist with prescription refill process under the direction of provider.
• Ensure proper care and usage of medical instruments in both clinical area and procedural area.
• Assist with minor procedures in clinic and procedure room cases, complying with clean and aseptic techniques.
• Review clinic and procedure schedules for assignments and coverage, reporting any discrepancies to the clinical coordinator and/or clinical supervisor.
• Perform clinical assignments, procedural assignments, and additional duties delegated by clinical supervisors.
• Act as a liaison between the Cornea clinic, other divisions within Ophthalmology, satellite clinics, other departments within UCHealth, and outside referring physicians to ensure efficient patient care.

Education:

• High School diploma or GED.

Licensure/Certification:

• Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT) or National Contact Lens Examiner Certification (NCLEC) if performing as a contact lens technician.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.

Experience:

• 3 years sponsored on-the-job ophthalmic training, or ophthalmic internship.
