We are seeking an experienced Research Scientist to join our team in the field of Cancer Biology Therapeutics. This is a highly motivated and laboratory-focused position that will play a key role in designing and executing cell-based assays and developing new platforms to evaluate proprietary compounds.
Responsibilities- Design research experiments and work independently to execute them, utilizing strong problem-solving skills to overcome challenges.
- Perform in vitro cellular assays to profile compounds, enabling mechanism of action studies for potential anti-cancer therapeutics, leveraging expertise in mammalian cell culture and cell-based assays.
- Generate engineered cell lines for screening assays, applying knowledge of cellular biology and molecular techniques.
- Maintain and culture tumor and non-tumorigenic cell lines, adhering to strict quality control standards.
- Conduct cell-based assays using CTG (CellTiter-Glo), IncuCyte, colony formation assays, and other technologies to evaluate cell viability and proliferation.
- Analyze and interpret scientific data, building comprehensive data decks in PowerPoint to present findings.
- Troubleshoot assays to ensure high-quality data, employing troubleshooting strategies to optimize experimental design.
- Interface closely with scientists in the research group to align efforts with project goals, fostering collaboration and communication.
- Present data and report on project status at individual, Biology group, and project meetings, effectively communicating complex information to diverse audiences.
- A minimum of a B.S. degree in cancer/cell/molecular biology or a related area, with a strong foundation in biological principles.
- B.S. or M.S. with 2+ years of relevant research experience, preferably in drug discovery within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, demonstrating expertise in laboratory procedures.
- Expertise in mammalian cell culture using aseptic tissue culture techniques and cell-based assays to evaluate viability, protein level analysis, gene expression analysis, and other functional/molecular biology assays.
- Experience with flow cytometry and immunofluorescence is a plus, as well as experience in 3D spheroid assays.
- The ability to develop, optimize, and troubleshoot new cell-based assays, showcasing adaptability and a proactive attitude.
- Efficient time management and multitasking skills, with the ability to work on several projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
